The Hydra Aromatherapy brand will be
available outside North America for the first
time after Villa Mondo signed on to distribute
it in Australia.
National sales manager Wendy Fry
discovered the range while in the US to visit
suppliers and the Chicago Housewares Fair.
She decided to represent the brand locally
because it is unique and a good fit with Villa
Mondo’s other collections.
“Hydra was one we considered in the bath/
body line that we really liked and had a point
of difference to other bath items currently in
the market,” she says. “It is a first for Hydra to
send their product so far away—the only other
country they have ever sold to is Canada—so
they are equally as excited for us to work
Fry says expanding her business’ product
portfolio with Hydra was also about diversifying
and helping retailers to do the same.
“Together with our customers we have
enjoyed considerable growth with the
beautiful products from Michel Design Works.
It is a range that has a huge choice of product
in a very decorative format. We were looking
for something that was complementary
and contemporary that would offer an
alternative for those who aren’t into a lot of
predominantly floral designs and fragrances.”

One of Gibson Imports founders, Don Moir,
sadly passed away recently at the age of 73.
Don has worked in the gift industry for over
half a century and at Gibson Imports since
1960, when the company was launched.
Gibson Imports is an Australian owned
giftware importer, wholesaler and distributor.
His son, managing director Jamie Moir says
he was ultra-competitive to the end.
“He really loved the gift industry and valued
the support and many friendships he shared
with many other exhibitors, customers and
other colleagues within the industry,” he says.
“We have received messages from many
of these people and the family would like to
thank them all for their support. He will be
General manager Tim McCann says Don was
an inspiring individual to his employees and to
many suppliers and customers.
“His enthusiasm around the office and
at the gift fairs was infectious. His acute
understanding of the giftware and eyewear
markets provided a solid and regular
sounding board to many of us,” he wrote on
the company’s Facebook page.

Reusable designer shopping bag label Envirosax
will now be known as Omnisax as part of a
strategy to create a multidimensional company.
“Omni means ‘all’ and captures the vision to
expand offerings, geographic reach and our
commitment to sustainability—both for the
environment and humanity,” says Kristy Zenk,
national sales manager. “The intention is to
have many facets to this company of which
the highly successful Envirosax bags and new
Omnisax bags are just one.”
The change comes as Omnisax releases
the garden party collection. Inspired by the
romance of flowers this range comes in five
designs with bags able to roll up to 10cm and
carry up to 20kg.
“Not since the extremely popular Bloom
range has there been a collection with all
five designs dedicated to flowers. With a lot
of pink throughout each bag, this range is
probably the most feminine ever released.”
Garden Party also follows the latest fashion
trend of floral. “Sometimes you see a little
floral detail, however, this time around it is a
full explosion of flowers which has been very
popular this season.”

Mark Jones Design has added another
brand to its portfolio by obtaining exclusive
distribution rights for Goose Creek Candles,
covering the top end of the candle market.
Director Mark Jones says he actually
discovered the product here in Australia.
“We came across Goose Creek Candles from
one of our top selling customers in country
Victoria and a very good friend just before
Christmas 2012,” he says.
“One phone call to Kentucky finding out
more information about the company, several
emails back and forth for the heads, then
it took us very quickly into candle sales for
May 2013 for our first shipment and could
now turn into a potential gold mine for
Jones is excited about bringing the
product to the Australian market and says
he has had great feedback from some of his
“Once our huge sample range of 57
fragrances arrived, we set up meetings with
several of our better customers and once they
smelt this wonderful new range, the product
alone won them over.”
